Manuscript Types
Journal of Practice Learning and Educational Development (JPLED)
The Journal of Practice Learning and Educational Development (JPLED) publishes scholarly articles that contribute to the advancement of education, teaching practices, learning innovation, and educational development. JPLED accepts the following types of manuscripts:
1. Research Articles
Research articles report original research that provides new findings, insights, or practical contributions to the field of education. Studies may use qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods approaches, as appropriate to the research objectives.
Topics may include, but are not limited to:
-
Teaching and learning strategies and models.
-
Curriculum development and educational evaluation.
-
Learning media, educational technology, and digital learning.
-
Student learning outcomes, motivation, literacy, and critical thinking.
-
Teacher professional development and educational management.
-
Early childhood, primary, secondary, higher, and vocational education.
-
Educational innovation and development in formal, non-formal, and informal settings.
Expected Content
Research articles should generally include:
-
Introduction: Research background, problem statement, relevant literature, research gap, and objectives.
-
Methods: Research design, participants or data sources, instruments, data collection, and analysis procedures.
-
Results and Discussion: Presentation of findings, interpretation, comparison with previous studies, and implications.
-
Conclusion: Main findings, contributions, limitations where relevant, and recommendations.
-
References: Relevant and credible scholarly sources cited in the manuscript.
The manuscript must demonstrate methodological clarity, appropriate evidence, and a clear contribution to educational knowledge or practice. Development and evaluation studies should explain the development process and provide evidence supporting the results.
Assessment: All submissions undergo initial editorial screening and, if suitable, peer review in accordance with JPLED's Peer Review Process.
2. Literature Review Articles
Literature review articles critically examine and synthesise existing scholarly literature on a specific educational topic. They should provide more than a summary of previous studies by identifying patterns, comparing findings, evaluating existing theories, identifying research gaps, or proposing directions for future research.
JPLED considers review approaches appropriate to the research question, including:
-
Narrative or critical literature reviews.
-
Systematic literature reviews.
-
Scoping reviews.
-
Bibliometric reviews with substantive analysis of educational research trends.
Expected Content
Literature review articles should generally include:
-
Introduction: Topic background, review objectives, significance, and guiding questions.
-
Review Methods: Search sources, search strategies, selection criteria, and analysis procedures, as appropriate to the review type.
-
Results and Discussion: Thematic synthesis, comparison of findings, critical evaluation of existing literature, and identification of research gaps.
-
Conclusion: Main insights, contributions, limitations, and recommendations for future research.
-
References: A comprehensive and relevant list of scholarly sources.
Systematic and scoping reviews must describe their search and selection procedures transparently enough for readers to understand how the literature was identified and analysed. Bibliometric reviews should provide meaningful interpretation of the findings rather than relying solely on publication counts or visualisations.
Assessment: All submissions undergo initial editorial screening and, if suitable, peer review in accordance with JPLED's Peer Review Process.
General Requirements
All manuscript types must:
-
Fit the focus and scope of JPLED.
-
Present original scholarly work and comply with the journal's publication ethics policies.
-
Not be under consideration by another journal at the same time.
-
