The "I‘Rob Jurumiyah" Application as a Learning Tool Nahwu

Abstract

The teaching of Arabic syntax (nahwu) often faces a persistent gap between students’ theoretical understanding of grammatical rules and their ability to apply i‘rab analysis in Arabic sentences. This study aims to examine the implementation of the I‘rob Jurumiyah application as a digital learning medium in nahwu instruction at the Arabic Language Education Study Program of STAI Ma’arif Kendal Ngawi. Employing a descriptive qualitative field-study design, data were collected through six classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with lecturers and students, documentation, and literature review. The findings reveal that the application functions not merely as a digitized version of classical material, but as a pedagogical tool that supports access to Jurumiyah content, illustrates grammatical concepts, and strengthens repetitive i‘rab practice. Its implementation involved several stages: instructional planning, user orientation, material exploration, guided i‘rab analysis, formative evaluation, and learner reflection. The study further indicates that the application enhances learning accessibility, promotes autonomous learning, increases student engagement, and bridges the classical tradition of Jurumiyah-based grammar learning with contemporary digital pedagogy. However, its effectiveness depends on lecturer guidance, material accuracy, and controlled smartphone use. This study contributes to Arabic language education by demonstrating how digital applications can preserve classical grammatical traditions while responding to the learning habits of contemporary students.
