Abstract

Agricultural systems rooted in local wisdom are promoted as a means to strengthen community food security. The implications of such systems extend beyond merely meeting food requirements; they also foster the empowerment of indigenous communities and the preservation of their collective identity. An ethnopedagogical approach is essential for integrating socio-cultural values into the learning process, thereby facilitating sustainable, agriculture-based education. Andragogy is particularly well-suited to the context of food security and local wisdom, as it emphasizes personal experience, real-world needs, and the active participation of community members. This study aims to analyze the agricultural system of the Kasepuhan Ciptagelar indigenous community through an ethnopedagogical lens. A descriptive qualitative methodology was employed, with data collected via observation and interviews. The data were subsequently analyzed using an interactive model, encompassing data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that local wisdom values related to agriculture have been passed down through generations. Cultural and ecological values are embedded in every agricultural practice. Rice, the primary crop, is cultivated and harvested through a series of sacred, highly respectful activities. This framework serves as a potential solution should the community face a prolonged food security crisis. Revitalizing these local wisdom values is necessary to integrate cultural heritage with formal education. Teachers can incorporate these traditions into experience-based learning, allowing students to gain firsthand knowledge of how traditional agricultural systems significantly contribute to community food security.
